RecallRanger Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 29, 2025

Introduction

The RecallRanger mobile application (owned by FidoCircle LLC) is a mobile application that provides food, pet, and household product recall alerts to users in the United States. We respect your privacy and want you to understand how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from you, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your rights regarding your data. It also includes important disclaimers about the recall information provided through our app.

By using the RecallRanger app, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these practices, please do not use the app. We encourage you to read this policy carefully and contact us if you have any questions.

Information We Collect

We collect several types of information from and about you when you use RecallRanger

(through FidoCircle LLC), including:

Personal Information You Provide: When you create an account or use our app, you

may provide certain personal details such as your name, email address, and phone

number. For example, we collect these details to set up your user profile and to

communicate with you.

Location Data: With your permission, we may collect location information from your

mobile device (for instance, your city or ZIP code). We use location data to tailor recall

alerts relevant to your area. You can choose not to share precise location data by

adjusting your device settings, though some localized features might not be available if

location is disabled.

Device and Usage Information: We automatically receive information about your

device and how you interact with the app. This includes data like your device type (e.g.

smartphone model and operating system version), unique device identifiers or

advertising ID, IP address, and usage statistics about your interactions with

RecallRanger’s features. We collect this information to help us understand app

performance, fix bugs, and improve our services. This usage data is generally collected

in aggregate form, but it may be linked to your account for purposes like analytics, personalization, and fraud prevention.

We do not knowingly collect any sensitive personal information such as financial details or

health data. The information we request is limited to what is relevant for providing recall alerts

and improving the app experience.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes in order to provide and improve the

RecallRanger service. These purposes include:

Providing Services: We use your personal information to create and manage your user

account and to deliver the recall alert services you signed up for. For example, your

name and email may be used to identify your account and allow you to log in, and your

location is used to show you relevant product recalls in your region.

Recall Alerts and Notifications: Your information (like location or product preferences,

if provided) helps us send you timely in-app push notifications about relevant product

recalls. We may also use your email or phone number to send critical recall information

or updates if you have agreed to receive such communications.

Improving and Personalizing the App: We analyze usage data and feedback to

understand how users interact with RecallRanger, a FidoCircle LLC company. This helps

us troubleshoot technical issues, develop new features, and improve the user

experience. For instance, usage patterns may inform us which recall categories or

product types are most popular, so we can focus on those areas.

Communication: We may use your contact information (email or phone) to respond to

your customer support inquiries, inform you about changes to the app or policies, or

send verification codes (for example, to verify your account or for password resets).

Advertising and Analytics: We use third-party services (described below) that help us

with analytics and advertising. For example, Google Analytics helps us understand user

behavior in the app, and Google AdSense allows us to display relevant advertisements.

The data collected through these services may be used to ensure the ads you see are

more tailored to your interests and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising.

Legal Compliance and Protection: We may use or disclose your information as

necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes (such as

responding to a court order or law enforcement request). We also may use information to

enforce our Terms of Service, investigate or prevent fraud and other illegal activities, and

protect the rights, property, and safety of RecallRanger, our users, or others. We will not use your personal information for purposes unrelated to RecallRanger’s services

without your consent. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

In-App Notifications (Push Alerts)

RecallRanger provides recall alerts primarily via in-app push notifications. After you install the

app, you may be asked for permission to allow notifications to be sent to your device. If you

grant permission, we will send you notifications about important product recalls and safety

alerts. These notifications are intended to inform you quickly about recalls that may affect you

(for example, a recalled food item or pet product you might have purchased).

You can control push notifications at any time. If you no longer wish to receive recall alerts

through push messages, you can disable notifications for RecallRanger in your device’s

settings. Please note that if you disable notifications, you will need to open the app to stay

informed about the latest recalls. We strive to include essential information in each alert, but for

full details about a recall, you may need to tap the notification or check the information within the

app.

Third-Party Services (Analytics and Advertising)

RecallRanger uses certain third-party services provided by Google to support our app’s

functionality and to keep the app free (through ad support). These third-party services may

collect information from your device as part of their operations. We want to be transparent about

these services:

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (including Google Analytics for Firebase)

to collect data about how users use RecallRanger. Google Analytics may collect

information such as how often you use the app, which screens or features you interact

with, device identifiers, and other usage data. This information helps us understand user

engagement and improve our app over time. Google Analytics may use identifiers like

your device’s advertising ID or cookies to track user interactions. All analytics data is

used in aggregate form for statistical purposes. We do not receive personally identifying

information through Google Analytics beyond what you have provided to us, and we do

not share any of your personal details (such as your name or email) with Google

Analytics.

Google AdSense (Advertising): Our app displays advertisements to help support our

service. We use Google AdSense (or a similar Google mobile ads platform) to serve ads

in RecallRanger. Google may use cookies or mobile device identifiers (such as the

Android Advertising ID or Apple’s IDFA) to show you ads that are more relevant to you.

This means you might see tailored advertising content based on your device’s app

usage and browsing activity. We do not share any of your personal contact details with

advertisers. However, when ads are displayed, Google (as the ad provider) mayautomatically collect certain information from your device to personalize ads and

measure their effectiveness. You can control personalized advertising in your device

settings – for example, you can opt out of interest-based ads by enabling “Limit Ad

Tracking” on iOS or “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android.

Firebase Hosting and Infrastructure: RecallRanger is hosted on Google’s Firebase

platform, which means our app’s backend servers and databases are managed through

Google’s cloud infrastructure. Personal information and data you provide (such as your

account details and preferences) are stored in Firebase’s systems. Firebase may

automatically collect some technical information such as IP addresses, log information,

and device details for security, performance monitoring, and to ensure reliable service.

We rely on Firebase to securely store data and deliver content quickly to users. Google

Firebase acts as a service provider processing data on our behalf according to our

instructions. Firebase does not use your data for any purpose other than to provide

services to RecallRanger.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

We encourage you to review Google’s Privacy Policy and related documentation for more

details on their practices. By using our app, you consent to the processing of data by these third

parties as described in this policy. We integrate services only from reputable providers, and we

take steps to ensure that your data is handled securely and in accordance with applicable

privacy laws.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We understand the importance of keeping your personal information private. RecallRanger does

not sell or rent your personal data to third parties. We only share your information in the

following circumstances:

Service Providers: We may share information with third-party service providers and

partners who help us operate the app and deliver our services. For example, as

mentioned above, we use Google Firebase to host data and Google Analytics to analyze

usage; these providers process personal information on our behalf for the purposes

described in this policy. We ensure that such service providers are bound by

confidentiality obligations and are required to protect your information in a manner

consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in

response to valid legal requests (for instance, a subpoena, court order, or government

demand). We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is

necessary to investigate or prevent fraud or security issues, to protect our users’ safety,

to enforce our Terms of Service, or to defend the rights or property of RecallRanger.

Business Transfers: If RecallRanger or its assets are involved in a merger, acquisition,

financing, reorganization, or sale of all or a portion of our business (or in the unlikely

event of bankruptcy or insolvency), your information may be transferred to a successor

or affiliate as part of that transaction. Should such a transfer occur, we will ensure that

your information remains protected by this Privacy Policy (or we will notify you and

obtain any required consents if a new policy comes into effect).

With Your Consent: Apart from the cases listed above, we will ask for your explicit

consent before sharing your personal information with third parties for purposes not

covered by this Privacy Policy. For example, if we ever wanted to share your information

with a partner for a special promotion or research project, we would provide you with a

clear explanation and the choice to opt-in or opt-out.

In all cases, we aim to disclose only the minimum information necessary to fulfill the purpose.

We may also share aggregated or de-identified data (information that cannot be linked back

to you personally) publicly or with partners – for example, to publish reports or trends about

product recalls or app usage. Such information does not include any personal details and is

used to improve our services or contribute to public knowledge about recall awareness.

Data Storage and Security

Your personal information is stored securely when you use RecallRanger. We use

industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption of data in transit

(when data is transmitted between your device and our servers) and encryption at rest (when

data is stored in our databases). The Firebase platform we use for hosting and storage benefits

from Google’s robust security infrastructure and protocols to help safeguard data.

While we strive to protect your information, please note that no method of transmitting data over

the internet or storing data is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of

your information. However, we continuously update and review our security practices to guard

against unauthorized access, and we implement additional safeguards as needed to meet

emerging security threats. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal

information, we will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by law.

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the recall alert services and

for legitimate business purposes. This includes uses such as maintaining records of your

account and communication preferences, or keeping records to comply with legal obligations

and dispute resolutions. If you decide to delete your account or request deletion of your data,

we will remove or anonymize your personal information in accordance with the procedures

described in the “Your Rights and Choices” section below. Once deleted, your data will no

longer be accessible through the app. (Keep in mind that residual copies might persist

temporarily in backups, but we will remove those during routine backup purges.) Any data weare required to retain by law (for example, certain transaction records) will be securely isolated

and protected until the retention requirement expires, at which point we will delete it as well.

Children’s Privacy (Age Restrictions)

RecallRanger is intended for use by individuals who are 13 years of age or older. We do not

knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13,

do not use this app or provide any information about yourself. If we discover that we have

inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that

information from our records.

Parents or guardians: If you become aware that a child under 13 has used RecallRanger or

provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action to

remove the information and, if applicable, delete the child’s account. We also recommend

supervising your child’s app usage and educating them about online safety. For teenagers

between 13 and 17 years old, we advise using the app with parental permission and guidance.

By using RecallRanger, you represent that you meet the minimum age requirement of 13.

RecallRanger is not liable for any unauthorized use of the app by minors. If a user

misrepresents their age and we unknowingly collect their information, we disclaim responsibility

for any consequences that may result from such unauthorized use. We encourage parents to

talk with their children about not sharing personal information and the importance of following

age restrictions on apps and websites.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Accuracy of Recall Information: RecallRanger strives to provide you with accurate, up-to-date

recall information, but we cannot guarantee that all information in the app is complete, correct,

or timely. The recall alerts and details we provide are gathered from various sources (such as

government agencies and manufacturers). While we do our best to update the app promptly

when new recalls are announced, there may be occasions where a recall notice is delayed, not

comprehensive, or contains inaccuracies. All content in RecallRanger (owned by FidoCircle

LLC) is for general informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for information provided

by official government channels or the product manufacturers. You should always verify critical

recall information through official sources when making decisions about your health, safety, or

purchases.

No Warranties: Use of the RecallRanger app and any information it provides is at your own

risk. RecallRanger (including the app itself and all content and services provided through it) is

offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis without any warranties or guarantees of any

kind, either express or implied. This means that we make no promises or assurances about

the app’s reliability, functionality, or accuracy of the information. To the fullest extent permitted

by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind – express or implied – including, but not limitedto, implied warranties of merchantability (fitness of the product for ordinary use), fitness for a

particular purpose, and non-infringement of proprietary rights. We do not warrant that the

RecallRanger app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful

components.

Limitation of Liability: In no event will RecallRanger or its creators, developers, or affiliates be

liable for any damages or losses arising out of or in connection with your use of the app or your

reliance on the recall information provided. This limitation of liability applies to all types of

damages or losses, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary. It

includes, for example, any personal injuries, illness, property damage, lost profits, lost data, or

other losses you might suffer. We are not responsible for any harm that may occur if you rely

on information from the app – for instance, if you consume or continue to use a product that was

recalled, or if you dispose of a product that was not actually subject to a recall due to an error or

delay in our information. By using RecallRanger, you agree that your sole remedy for any

problems or dissatisfaction with the app or the information it provides is to stop using the app.

We will not under any circumstances be liable for more than the amount you have paid (if

anything) to use the app.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for

certain types of damages. To the extent that laws of a particular jurisdiction apply to your

use of RecallRanger and do not allow the exclusions or limitations above, some of those

exclusions or limitations may not apply to you. In such cases, our liability will be limited to

the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. All other provisions of this Privacy Policy

(including Disclaimers and Liability limitations) shall remain in full force and effect.

Your Rights and Choices

We believe it’s important that you have control over your personal information. Depending on

applicable laws (for example, certain U.S. state privacy laws), you have certain rights regarding

your data. RecallRanger will honor your reasonable requests relating to your personal

information. These rights and choices may include:

Access and Correction: You have the right to request access to the personal

information we hold about you. You may also request that we correct or update any

inaccurate or outdated information. Much of your basic account information can be

reviewed and edited by you directly in the app (for example, you can update your profile

details or change your email in the account settings). For any information that you

cannot access or change through the app, you can contact us to request access or

correction, and we will be happy to help you.

Deletion of Data: You can request that we delete your personal information. The easiest

way to do this is often by using an account deletion feature in the app (if available) or by

contacting us directly with your request. When you request deletion, we will remove or

anonymize the personal data we have about you so that you can no longer be identifiedfrom it. Keep in mind there may be certain information we must retain for a period of time

to comply with legal obligations or for internal business reasons (for example, records of

transactions or communications, or data backups). If any such retention is required, we

will let you know. Otherwise, we will strive to complete your deletion request promptly.

Withdrawal of Consent: If we are processing any of your information based on your

consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. For instance, if you

previously gave permission for location access or to receive push notifications, you can

disable location services for RecallRanger or turn off notifications in your device settings

to withdraw consent for those features. Similarly, if we ever request your consent for a

new data use, you can decline or later withdraw consent. Please note that withdrawing

consent for certain data uses (like location) may affect the functionality available to you

(for example, the app might not be able to show location-specific recall alerts without

location access).

Opt-Out of Marketing Communications: If we send you any promotional

communications or newsletters (aside from the essential recall alerts or service-related

notices), you have the right to opt out or unsubscribe. We will include an “unsubscribe”

link or instructions in any such email we send, so you can easily stop receiving those

messages. You can also contact us directly to request removal from our marketing

mailing list. (Currently, RecallRanger’s communications are focused on recall alerts and

important service updates, rather than general marketing, but we include this for

completeness.)

Opt-Out of Personalized Advertising: As described in the Third-Party Services

section, you can control whether you receive personalized ads based on your interests.

If you prefer not to have advertising networks like Google tailor ads to you, you can use

your device’s privacy settings to opt out of interest-based advertising. This will vary by

device; for example, on Apple devices you can enable “Limit Ad Tracking,

” and on

Android devices you can enable “Opt out of Ads Personalization.

” Using these settings

will limit the use of your data for ad targeting. (Note that you will still see ads, but they

may be less relevant to your interests.)

Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these

privacy rights. This means that if you choose to exercise your data rights (such as

requesting deletion or opting out of certain processing), we will not deny you our

services, charge you different prices, or provide you a lower quality of service just

because you exercised your privacy rights. Our treatment of you will remain fair and

equal.

To exercise any of your rights or choices, please contact us using the contact information

provided in the next section. For your security, we may need to verify your identity before

fulfilling certain requests (such as providing access to your data or processing a deletionrequest) to ensure that we do not disclose personal information to an unauthorized person.

Verification might involve checking that you have control of the email associated with your

account or asking for certain information that only the account owner would know. We will

respond to your request as quickly as we can, and in any case within any timeframes required

by law.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices,

technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we

will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If we make any significant or

material changes in how we handle your personal information or in the Policy’s terms, we will

take additional steps to notify you. For example, we might display a notice within the app, send

out an email notification (if we have your email on file), or provide an alert via the app’s

notification system to inform you of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how

RecallRanger is protecting your information and to be aware of any changes. If you continue to

use RecallRanger after an updated Privacy Policy has been posted, it will signify your

acceptance of the changes (to the extent permitted by law). However, if any change requires

separate consent by law (for example, if we were to start collecting additional personal data not

previously collected), we will make sure to obtain that consent from you.
